Santiago Cabrera currently plays the role of Isaac Mendez on Heroes. Isaac is an artist living in New York who was addicted to heroin. Early in the series, Isaac realized that he could paint future events while high on heroin. Isaac was previously dating Simone Deveaux, who is also his art dealer. Isaac met with Peter when Simone called him over to Isaac?s apartment when Isaac overdosed on heroin. Once he recovered from his overdose, Isaac was convinced that he needed to save New York from an explosion that he had painted. Simone doubted that Isaac possessed the ability to see the future and did not approve of his drug use, so she broke up with him.
Peter met up with Isaac to view his paintings in hope that they would lead him to the cheerleader he was supposed to save. Eden, previously Mohinder?s neighbor, brought Isaac to meet with Mr. Bennet. Bennet told Isaac that he helped people with special abilities and he was convinced that he could teach Isaac to paint the future without using heroin. Eventually, Isaac managed to overcome his addiction and realized he could paint the future without using. Isaac met Hiro and Ando when Hiro contacted him after seeing that Isaac?s comic book featured a character that appeared to be Hiro. Isaac was also introduced to Nathan Petrelli through Simone.
Isaac also eventually came to the conclusion that Peter would be the cause of the New York explosion and began actively searching for him. Isaac contacted Mr. Bennet to help him search for Peter and informed Bennet that Peter was invisible. Later, after Bennet departed, Peter appeared at Isaac?s apartment and Isaac threatened to shoot him. However, they struggled and Isaac accidentally shot Simone, who was walking into the apartment. Isaac blamed Peter for Simone?s death and, overwrought with grief, he turned back to heroin and painted several pictures, one of which showed himself with his head sliced open.
